Compensation & Terms

• Salary: Up to $100K (up to $105K for exceptional candidates)
• Payment terms: Net 15
• Replacement guarantee: 60 days
• Optional structure: Salary may include a small signing bonus (e.g., $100K + $5K bonus) with review after one year

Role Summary

Full-time, onsite Senior Buyer role based in Union City, CA.

Focus: procurement and cost optimization of fiber optic and related electronic components for cable assemblies, ensuring supply continuity, production readiness, and margin targets.

Core Responsibilities

• Source and purchase fiber optic components, cable assemblies, and related materials for production needs
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supplier terms to improve margins and ensure supply stability
• Review and validate BOMs for cost accuracy, availability, and part correctness
• Manage supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery or quality
• Support inventory planning, demand forecasting, and production scheduling
• Identify supply risks, shortages, and market changes; develop mitigation plans
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, sales, and planning
• Maintain accurate procurement and forecasting data in ERP/MRP systems
• Drive process improvements in procurement, planning, and inventory management

Required Experience & Skills

• 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, operations, or related functions
• Strong background in fiber optics, optical connectivity, networking hardware, or related electronics manufacturing
• Direct experience sourcing fiber optic components is essential
• Strong knowledge of BOM structures, inventory control, and supplier management
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or production environments
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with international vendors and non-native English speakers

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working with contract manufacturers strongly preferred
• Deep experience in fiber procurement and cable assembly sourcing
