At our organization, product perfection starts with having the right materials, components, and partners in place at the exact right moment. As Senior Buyer, you will hold the keys to our external supply chain, owning high-stakes supplier sourcing, commercial negotiations, vendor execution, and total cost optimization across mission-critical commodities. Sitting at the vital intersection of Operations, Engineering, Planning, and Quality, you won't just place purchase orders—you will build a high-performing supplier base, mitigate global supply risks, and drive bottom-line results in a fast-paced, high-precision environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Architect and execute competitive sourcing and purchasing strategies for assigned commodities, including raw materials, machined components, castings, tooling, outside processing, and specialized services. Own the RFQ process end-to-end; evaluate complex supplier proposals for pricing, lead time, technical capability, total cost of ownership, and capacity constraints. Leverage market data to aggressively negotiate pricing, delivery, minimum order quantities, tooling, freight, payment terms, and commercial protections. Issue and manage purchase orders in the ERP system with high precision—ensuring flawless alignment on quantities, pricing, revisions, quality clauses, and regulatory flow downs. Proactively track open purchase orders, identify supplier delay risks early, and aggressively execute recovery plans to ensure 100% on-time delivery to the shop floor. Collaborate seamlessly with Planning and Operations to align purchasing execution with real-time MRP demand, inventory targets, safety stock, and lead time changes. Partner closely with Engineering and Quality to evaluate supplier capabilities, resolve non-conforming materials, coordinate FAI requirements, and process engineering updates. Drive rigorous supplier scorecards, lead quarterly business reviews, and resolve systemic vendor performance issues before they impact production. Spearhead alternate sourcing initiatives to eliminate single-source risks, resolve lead-time bottlenecks, reduce unit costs, and protect business continuity. Lead new supplier onboarding from contract execution and NDA processing to full QMS approval in tandem with Quality and Finance. Provide critical market intel, cost models, and lead-time analysis to support new program introductions (NPI), make-vs-buy decisions, and program transfers. Drive invoice variance resolution and purchase order reconciliation alongside Receiving, Quality, and Finance. Maintain strict compliance with internal procurement policies, delegated authority limits, export regulations, and quality standards. Qualifications: 5+ years of progressive procurement, purchasing, or strategic sourcing experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proven track record executing RFQs, driving complex commercial negotiations, managing key supplier relationships, and resolving critical supply chain bottlenecks.
