Senior Buyer

Senior Buyer Location: Radford, VA 24141 Pay rate: Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Buyer to support spare parts purchasing for our Radford facilities. This role manages sourcing, supplier relationships, competitive bidding, negotiations, and purchase orders while supporting cost savings, quality improvements, and reliable material availability. Key Responsibilities Identify, qualify, and onboard global suppliers aligned with business objectives and sector offset targets. Manage the full request for quotation (RFQ) process, evaluate supplier bids, and make sourcing decisions. Conduct cost and price analyses to support negotiations and ensure required compliance documentation is complete. Negotiate and execute long-term supplier agreements and support strategic sourcing projects. Manage supplier performance throughout the life cycle of purchased materials and services. Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers on quality improvements, cost reductions, and design changes. Partner with commodity managers, tactical buyers, program teams, and other supply chain stakeholders. Monitor market trends and address supply shortages, pricing changes, and sourcing opportunities. Analyze forecasts and supplier proposals to support purchasing decisions. Improve purchasing processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Ensure timely closeout of completed purchase orders. Follow company safety policies and maintain a safe work environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant work experience, or equivalent experience. Experience purchasing multiple commodities. Working knowledge of RFQ/RFP development, contracts, financial analysis, negotiations, and purchase order documentation. Ability to read and interpret engineering requirements, blueprints, schematics, and component drawings. Experience managing data, analytics, and reporting within an ERP system. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel. Strong communication, analytical, and supplier relationship management skills. Preferred Qualifications Defense industry experience. Familiarity with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and FAR/DFARS requirements. Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). Experience conducting or supporting supplier audits.
