Senior Backend Engineer — Inventory & Fulfillment Platform
ConfidentialPosition Details Employment: Full-time, permanent W-2 employee. Location: Fully remote within the United States. No office attendance required. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 working hours per week; Saturday and Sunday off. Working hours: Flexible start and finish times, with collaboration hours from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Meal breaks are separate from working hours. Base salary: $175,000–$205,000 USD annually before taxes, paid biweekly. Reports to: Engineering Manager. Travel: None required. About Stocklane Stocklane Technologies develops software that helps online retailers synchronize inventory, coordinate warehouse fulfillment, and track orders across sales channels. Our remote team builds practical tools that make complex retail operations easier to manage. About the Role You will build the backend services that keep inventory accurate and orders moving through Stocklane Cloud. Your work will include warehouse integrations, order routing, and reliable processing of inventory updates. This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will own projects from technical design through release and collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and fellow engineers. What You’ll Do Develop APIs and backend services for inventory, order routing, and fulfillment workflows. Build integrations with online stores, warehouse systems, and shipping providers. Design event processing that safely handles duplicate messages, delayed updates, and service failures. Improve PostgreSQL data models, query performance, and transaction handling. Write automated tests and introduce monitoring that helps identify problems before they affect customers. Investigate production issues during working hours and implement lasting fixes. Review code, document design decisions, and support other engineers through feedback and mentoring. Break larger projects into manageable releases and communicate progress and risks. What You’ll Bring Five or more years of professional backend engineering experience. Strong experience building production applications with Python and FastAPI or Django. Solid PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization. Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, and third-party integrations. Practical knowledge of message queues, background jobs, retries, and idempotency. Experience deploying and maintaining cloud applications, preferably on AWS. Confidence with automated testing, Git, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows. Clear written and spoken English and experience collaborating independently in a remote team. A college degree is not required. Relevant professional experience and sound engineering judgment are what matter. Nice to Have Experience with inventory management, warehouse software, Shopify, distributed systems, Redis, or Terraform. Familiarity with every tool in our stack is not expected. Our Stack Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, Terraform, and GitHub Actions. Compensation and Work Expectations The annual base salary range is $175,000–$205,000. Placement within the range depends on relevant experience, technical skills, and demonstrated project ownership. The same range applies across eligible U.S. locations. Compensation is reviewed annually. The stated range excludes benefits; no bonus or equity is included in this sample package. We plan delivery around a 40-hour workweek. This role has no scheduled evening or weekend shifts and no after-hours on-call rotation. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision: Coverage starts on the first day of the month following hire.
