fessional with extensive behind-the-wheel experience, demonstrated success in reducing risk, developing professional drivers, recognizing emerging trends and implementing preventive measures before those risks become incidents, claims or regulatory concerns.
The successful candidate will work under the leadership of our Safety & Compliance Department and in full alignment with the department's objectives, standards and long-term vision.
The Mandate
Develop safer drivers. Identify risk early. Prevent losses. Build future trainers. Create a scalable driver-development system.
The successful candidate will combine practical driving expertise, coaching, risk-management knowledge, industry relationships and continuous professional development to strengthen Flashbee's safety culture from the yard outward.
Proactive Risk Identification & Loss Prevention
This position requires someone who thinks beyond individual incidents.
Responsibilities include:
• Proactively identifying unsafe behaviours and developing risk patterns.
• Recognizing trends across road tests, incidents, inspections, telematics, claims, driver complaints and yard observations.
• Identifying leading indicators before they develop into collisions, claims or regulatory issues.
• Developing targeted training interventions based on observed trends.
• Participating in accident and incident reviews.
• Working with Safety & Compliance leadership on preventive initiatives.
• Translating safety data and operational observations into practical training.
• Evaluating whether previous corrective actions actually produced measurable improvement.
The expectation is to continually ask:
What is developing, what could happen next, and what can we do today to prevent it?
Driver Qualification & Continuous Evaluation
The Trainer will establish a documented driver competency lifecycle.
New Drivers on boarded
Initial Road Test
Comprehensive practical assessment before approval to operate company equipment.
30-Day Evaluation
Identify early habits, training gaps and areas requiring intervention.
60-Day Evaluation
Measure progress and reassess previously identified risks.
90-Day Evaluation
Complete probationary competency review and documented recommendation.
Existing Drivers
Drivers will receive ongoing quarterly practical evaluations, coaching and competency reviews.
Additional road tests and remedial training may be triggered by:
• Preventable incidents
• Moving violations
• Failed or concerning inspections
• Driver complaints
• Telematics trends
• Unsafe yard observations
• Equipment damage
• Significant changes in driver performance
• Management or Safety & Compliance direction
The objective is continuous driver development, not simply passing an initial road test.
Practical Driver Training
Training must be hands-on and conducted in the yard, in the tractor and on the road.
Training will include:
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Tractor and trailer inspections
• Defensive driving
• Backing and docking
• Coupling and uncoupling
• Yard maneuvering
• Highway and urban driving
• Space and speed management
• Turning and lane positioning
• Reefer and trailer handling
• Load and equipment awareness
• Collision avoidance
• Fuel-efficient operation
• Adverse-weather driving
• Accident and emergency response
• Professional conduct
Trip Planning & Journey Management
A safe trip begins before the truck moves.
Drivers will be taught how to properly plan each trip, including:
• Route and alternate-route planning
• Distance and realistic travel time
• Hours-of-service availability
