Purpose/Summary: We are currently recruiting for a Senior Arctic Civil/Roads Engineer for transportation infrastructure in the Arctic and remote environments. The role provides technical leadership for the planning, route selection, design, delivery, and lifecycle performance of all-weather roads, and marine civil works. The successful candidate will bring deep cold-regions expertise and develop practical, resilient solutions for permafrost degradation, freeze-thaw conditions, drainage, terrain constraints, and remote construction logistics. Responsibilities: Serve as the technical authority for Arctic civil, roadway, marine heavy civil, and transportation infrastructure projects. Lead project scopes from feasibility and route selection through detailed design, construction support, and asset performance review. Develop and review roadway alignments, breakwaters, embankments, earthworks, grading, drainage systems, culverts, and crossings. Provide specialized solutions for permafrost, frost heave, thaw settlement, severe freeze-thaw cycling, spring freshet, icing, and climate resilience. Prepare and review design criteria, calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and construction documentation. Demonstrated knowledge of permafrost engineering, frozen ground, roadway embankments, earthworks, hydrology and drainage, frost and thaw mitigation, climate resilience, and remote logistics. Experience with all-weather roads, winter roads, mine or industrial haul roads, public highways, remote transportation corridors, or airfield infrastructure. Experience with marine civil infrastructure such as breakwaters and revetments. Strong capability in route selection, field investigation planning, design review, technical reporting, constructability, and construction support. Proficiency with Civil 3D or comparable roadway design software. Experience with OpenRoads, GIS, and thermal or geotechnical modeling tools is preferred.
