Blue Chip Talent , in partnership with a manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Segment Buyer (chemicals) . This role is responsible for managing divisional purchasing activities for chemicals and raw materials, developing commodity purchasing strategies, and supporting supplier performance, cost savings, and quality initiatives across multiple product lines. Job Duties Develop purchasing strategies for assigned chemicals and raw material commodities Evaluate supplier quotations, pricing, services, capabilities, and cost-saving opportunities Manage supplier relationships throughout the sourcing and vendor lifecycle Support commodity leadership with sourcing decisions, market analysis, and purchasing initiatives Monitor raw material market trends and evaluate their impact on sourcing strategies Coordinate purchasing activities supporting multiple product lines and manufacturing requirements Participate in supplier quality workshops and zero-defect initiatives Support sourcing activities involving new technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods Skills & Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field Experience with purchasing, sourcing, or procurement in a manufacturing environment Knowledge of chemicals, raw materials, or standard production components Understanding of raw material pricing and market trends Working knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality requirements Experience evaluating supplier quotations, pricing, and cost-saving opportunities Project management experience within purchasing, sourcing, or manufacturing programs Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% Desired Experience purchasing chemicals or other production raw materials Experience supporting multiple product lines or commodity groups Knowledge of strategic sourcing and commodity management methodologies Experience with supplier lifecycle and vendor performance management Experience supporting supplier quality or zero-defect initiatives Exposure to sourcing for new technologies or manufacturing processes Proficiency with standard purchasing, data analysis, and business productivity software Blue Chip Talent is an award-winning and woman-owned talent solutions provider based out of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
