Security Officer – Logistics Location: Oakland, CA Job Type: Full-Time Shifts: Swing Schedule: Weekends required Job Summary Hammer Head Security is seeking dependable and professional Security Officers to support security operations at a busy logistics and distribution facility. This position involves access control, gate operations, foot patrols, trailer yard inspections, refrigerated trailer monitoring, and accurate shift documentation. The ideal candidate is attentive, reliable, customer-service oriented, and capable of following detailed security procedures while working independently in an active industrial environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Gate Security and Access Control Monitor vehicle and pedestrian entrances and exits. Verify identification and authorization for employees, contractors, visitors, vendors, and commercial drivers. Process employee and vehicle access using electronic scanning systems and approved procedures. Maintain accurate records of facility entries and exits. Review delivery schedules, appointments, and authorized access lists. Process inbound and outbound commercial trucks according to client procedures. Record driver, trailer, container, chassis, and seal information as required. Verify outbound empty trailers and report discrepancies before departure. Maintain gate logs, truck logs, visitor records, and other required documentation. Coordinate with Dispatch, client representatives, and management regarding access concerns and delivery issues. Foot Patrol and Property Protection Conduct scheduled foot patrols throughout the facility and trailer yard. Complete required QR code scans at designated checkpoints. Inspect fence lines, warehouse doors, gates, equipment areas, and other assigned locations. Identify and report suspicious activity, property damage, vandalism, unsecured doors, safety hazards, and equipment concerns. Maintain a visible security presence throughout the property. Submit timestamped photographs and patrol updates through approved communication channels. Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and other required patrol documentation. Refrigerated Trailer Monitoring Inspect refrigerated trailers according to client inventory and inspection procedures. Verify trailer numbers, chassis numbers, and trailer identification tags. Record set temperatures and running temperatures. Confirm that designated refrigerated trailers remain powered on. Monitor refrigerated equipment for defrost cycles, temperature deviations, and operational concerns. Conduct follow-up inspections as required when equipment enters defrost mode. Promptly report equipment malfunctions, temperature discrepancies, and other concerns to Dispatch and designated client representatives. Complete temperature logs, inventory documentation, photographs, and incident reports when required. Reporting and Communication Complete accurate Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, gate logs, and inspection records. Communicate promptly with Dispatch, supervisors, management, and client representatives. Report emergencies, security incidents, safety hazards, and equipment issues without delay. Follow company policies, client procedures, post orders, and applicable safety requirements. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling client and employee information. Emergency Response Respond appropriately to medical, fire, security, and other emergencies within the scope of assigned duties and training. Notify Dispatch and management of emergencies and critical incidents. Contact emergency services when directed or when circumstances require immediate assistance. Assist emergency responders with facility access and directions. Complete required incident documentation following an emergency. Qualifications Valid California BSIS Guard Card required.
