We are looking for a motivated and dependable Second Shift Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, garbage trucks, and related equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, inspections, fluid services, and routine component replacements. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other equipment issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment. Determine repair needs, develop an effective plan of action, and complete repairs accurately and efficiently. Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify potential problems, safety concerns, and maintenance needs before they result in breakdowns. Complete repairs and maintenance according to company procedures and applicable safety standards. Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and preventive maintenance information. Keep the shop, work bays, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition. Communicate repair needs, equipment concerns, and maintenance priorities with supervisors and fellow technicians. Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and keep trucks available for scheduled collection routes. Take ownership of assigned repairs and maintain a consistent standard of quality, safety, and professionalism. Qualifications At least one year of diesel mechanic or heavy-duty mechanical repair experience. Experience working on diesel engines, commercial trucks, or heavy-duty equipment preferred. Familiarity with mechanical and electrical diagnostics and diagnostic equipment. Strong troubleshooting, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented shop environment. Dependable attendance, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to quality workmanship. Willingness to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Ability to meet the physical demands of a heavy-duty repair shop, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
