We are seeking an experienced Scrap Metal Procurement & Business Development Representative with established contacts in the manufacturing, fabrication, machining, steel, stainless steel, and metal-processing industries in Ontario to develop new scrap-metal accounts and secure long-term manufacturing customers for our free bin and scrap collection services. Responsibilities Identifying manufacturing plants and industrial facilities generating scrap metal Using existing industry contacts to get introductions to plant managers, purchasing managers, operations managers, production managers and environmental/recycling personnel Converting manufacturers from their current scrap/recycling provider Developing new manufacturing accounts Determining what types of scrap a facility generates — steel, stainless, aluminum, copper, brass, wire, etc. Arranging placement of roll-off bins, lugger boxes, hoppers and other collection equipment Coordinating pickup and replacement requirements with operations team Negotiating and maintaining scrap-metal purchasing relationships Regularly visiting manufacturing facilities and maintaining relationships with decision-makers Monitoring competitors and identifying facilities that may be unhappy with their current scrap provider Requirements Proven experience in procurement or sourcing within the manufacturing or metals industry, with a focus on scrap metal commodities. Familiarity with supply chain processes, vendor management, pricing strategies, and negotiation techniques. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. Knowledge of manufacturing operations and the role of procurement within the broader supply chain framework is highly desirable.
