Scrap Metal Buyer / Scale Operator ( Non Ferrous )

Red River Recycling is looking for a dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our Mt. Pleasant team as a Non-Ferrous Scale Operator This position plays an important role in our daily operations and involves working directly with customers, accurately identifying and weighing recyclable metals, and processing transactions through our computerized scale system. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of non-ferrous scrap metals, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Identify, inspect, and properly classify various non-ferrous metals, including copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, insulated wire, and other recyclable materials. Accurately weigh incoming scrap materials and enter transactions into our computer system. Assist customers throughout the weighing and selling process. Ensure materials are properly graded and priced according to company guidelines. Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently. Maintain accurate records of weights, materials, and transactions. Keep the scale area and workstations clean, organized, and safe. Work closely with other team members to maintain smooth daily operations. Provide friendly, professional customer service while maintaining efficiency during busy periods. Qualifications Previous experience in the scrap metal or recycling industry is preferred, but not necessary. Knowledge of non-ferrous metals and material grading is a major plus. Strong attention to detail and basic math skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Willingness to work in an active, hands-on scrap yard environment.
