Job Summary: 

The Schaumburg Operations Manager oversees the Schaumburg Teen Center’s daily operations. They are responsible for leading the staff, managing programs, taking care of administrative tasks, and developing the center. The Schaumburg Operations Manager ensures that enrollment and attendance goals are met, the staff is trained, and the community and board are engaged. Additionally, they work towards any other goals the organization establishes with a sense of assurance. 


Key Roles/Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Management  

  • Communicate and build consensus around the Club’s mission, vision, and core values and act in a consistent manner. 
  • Set an example of what is expected from staff, members, and parents. 
  • Follow the “Blue Culture” and the values that it upholds for all people. 
  • Ensure follow through on promises and commitments, accepting responsibility for the performance. 
  • Encourage others to share a dream of the future and show them how they impact the lives of youth. 
  • Inspire staff and volunteers to support the Club’s mission and strategic direction, speaking with conviction about the importance of the Club. 
  • Ensure stakeholders (schools, parents, members, general public, staff, donors, volunteers) are raving fans of the Club, its programs, and its members. 
  • Adhere to organizational policies & procedures. 
  • Develop smooth and constructive relationships with people from all segments of the community. 
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of executive management. Demonstrate initiative and work as a team player.

Program Management & Supervision 

  • Oversee the Schaumburg Teen Center Operations.  
  • Observe sites during hours of operation and ensure a productive work environment. 
  • Supervise the Schaumburg Teen Center staff to ensure that programs and plans are being implemented accordingly. 
  • Oversee the implementation of a recruitment and retention plan for Club members and provide leadership and guidance to ensure the successful completion of enrollment and attendance goals. 
  • Ensure program teams wear uniforms and name tags every day. 
  • Ensure implementation of planned programs that encompass key BGCA programs, outcome areas, and the 5 Key Elements. 

Administration, Reporting & Financial Management 

  • Ensure program compliance, data collection, and completion of administrative tasks to meet the obligations of grant contracts. Generate status reports as requested. 
  • Ensure that the club resources are effectively used for mission-driven programs. 
  • Assist with grant applications and supporting documents when requested. 
  • Implement, supervise, and evaluate all programs and activities provided at the program site, per the grant guidelines ensuring all objectives are met. 
  • Ensure the Schaumburg Teen Center staff completes monthly reports and dashboards to provide program highlights, membership and attendance data, and other pertinent information as requested. 
  • Ensure successful program execution, including compiling monthly reports, meeting enrollment/attendance requirements, budget management, upkeep, and program evaluation per grant guidelines. 
  • Supervise the data collection process to ensure accurate record keeping of member attendance, grades collection, and other pertinent data. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing MyClubHub to generate reports necessary for grant reporting purposes and data entry. 
  • Recommend requisitions, as necessary, to the Schaumburg Area Director 
  • Help maintain an inventory of all program equipment and ensure that supplies are in good order. 
  • Participation in mandatory grant-related training (may include overnight travel). 

Communication, Marketing & Resource Development 

  • Collaborate with outside community organizations and the Director of Community Engagement to maintain partnerships. 
  • Work alongside the Schaumburg Area Director to establish and maintain a healthy partnership with the School District. 
  • Maintain a professional tone in written and verbal communication. Provide professional presentations on behalf of the Club as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications to ensure compliance with BGCA graphic standards. 
  • Oversee the production and distribution of a monthly newsletter for parents and schools that highlights and recognizes programs, members, and upcoming events. 
  • Establish regular meeting times with the staff team members (at least two a month). Keep agendas and minutes of all meetings. 
Requirements

Skills/Knowledge Required 

  • Associate’s degree or 2-3 years of relevant experience is preferred  
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) is preferred 
  • Meet basic requirements of eligibility to become certified to drive a 12 to 15-passenger van 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment 
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy 
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management 
  • Excellent skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, working with databases and Internet research
