Peckham Inc. - Scanner/Packager Important Details: Wage: $13.73 per hour Hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday plus overtime as necessary Full-Time positions only Location: 3510 Capital City Blvd Lansing, MI 48906 Why Work at Peckham - Peckham SUMMARY The Scanner/Packager is an entry level role responsible for supporting packaging, labeling, scanning, and basic material-handling activities. Work assignments may occur in either Operations (production or pre-production areas) or Supply Chain (warehouse, inbound, or outbound areas) depending on business needs. Employees are assigned to a specific area and are only expected to perform the duties related to that assignment. Important Note About Work Assignments: This role supports multiple work environments across the organization. Employees are not required to work in all areas. Duties performed will depend on the team they are assigned to—either Operations or Supply Chain. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Move products, parts, or materials using pallet jacks or carts Stage, stock, or replenish materials in work areas as directed Use RF scanners, scanning equipment, computers, Excel, and other systems Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas using 5S and LEAN Communicate clearly regarding issues or questions Participate in Peckham safety programs Assist with cross-training within assigned area Fold, inspect, package, and label products Attach hang tags, labels, RFID tags Operate scanning equipment Scan items to verify accuracy Bag, seal, and pack items Count products and verify label accuracy Complete logs, paperwork, documentation If Assigned to Operations (Production or Pre-Production Areas): Work in assigned manufacturing cells Verify cut parts using cut-check lists Maintain counts of parts and materials Report final production quantities Notify supervisors or quality techs of defects If Assigned to Supply Chain (Warehouse, Inbound, or Outbound Areas): Process items through aggregators Replace defective RFID or hand tags Build virtual pallets and complete logs Create Over/Short packages Label boxes and pallets per contract standards Stage orders and support outbound shipment preparation Assist with non-forklift loading/unloading MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS At least 18 years of age Ability to read labels and basic documents Basic math skills Ability to follow instructions Reliable attendance Color vision PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standing and walking for long periods Lifting 40lbs frequently; up to 50lbs frequently in Operations; up to 100lbs occasionally with assistance in Supply Chain Use of pallet jacks and manual tools The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
