Rural Mail Route Driver — Shelburne Falls, MA About Berkshire Route Services Berkshire Route Services is a growing independent mail delivery contractor operating contracted rural mail routes throughout the region. We currently operate routes in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and are continuing to expand as additional route opportunities become available. We focus on dependable service, professional route operations, and building a reliable team of drivers who take pride in serving their local communities. We are currently seeking a dependable Rural Mail Route Driver to operate a contracted route based out of the Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts Post Office . This position offers the opportunity to work independently while serving residents and businesses throughout the Southfield area. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, transporting, and delivering mail and packages along an established rural route. The route operates Monday through Saturday , with a typical start time of 7:00 AM and an approximate completion time of 1:05 PM . Actual time on the route may vary depending on mail volume, package volume, traffic, weather, and other daily conditions. Route Details Location: 7 Church Street Shelburne Falls, Ma 01370 Post Office: Shelburne Falls Post Office Schedule: Monday–Saturday Typical Start Time: 7:00 AM Approximate End Time: 1:05 PM Route Mileage: Approximately 32.5 miles Daily Compensation: $175.00 Annual Contract Compensation: $53,147.50 Contracted Workdays: Approximately 303.7 days per year The annual compensation is based on the contracted 303.7 annual workdays rather than a standard 312-day Monday–Saturday work year. Federal Holidays Off Federal holidays are non-service days for this route. The route does not operate on the applicable federal holidays included in the USPS service schedule. Responsibilities As a Rural Mail Route Driver, your responsibilities will include: Preparing and organizing mail in delivery sequence Loading mail and packages into the delivery vehicle Safely operating a vehicle along the assigned route Delivering mail and packages to residential and business customers Collecting outgoing mail Obtaining signatures and handling accountable mail when required Following USPS delivery procedures and route requirements Maintaining accurate and secure handling of mail Communicating with Berkshire Route Services regarding route-related issues Providing dependable service in a variety of weather and road conditions This is an independent route position . You will be responsible for managing your time, completing your route efficiently, and maintaining a high standard of customer service. Qualifications The ideal candidate is dependable, responsible, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently. Applicants must: Be at least 18 years old Possess a valid driver's license Have a good driving record Have sufficient driving history to meet USPS contract requirements Be able to lift and carry mail and packages, including heavier parcels Be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Be dependable and able to consistently report as scheduled Have reliable transportation suitable for the route Meet all applicable USPS contract requirements and pass required background/security screening Previous experience in mail delivery, package delivery, courier work, professional driving, or a similar position is helpful, but we are willing to consider candidates with the right work ethic and qualifications. Vehicle Requirements The route requires a dependable vehicle capable of safely carrying the daily mail and package volume. The standard vehicle requirement for this contract is a vehicle providing approximately 120 cubic feet of usable cargo space , such as a mid-sized SUV or minivan.
