Routing & Transportation Manager Location: Troy, MI Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $65,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience Benefits · Paid Time Off · Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance · 401(k) Program Position Summary Bio-MED Regulated Waste Solutions is seeking an experienced, hands-on Routing & Transportation Manager to oversee daily routing, Driver performance, fleet readiness, safety, and transportation operations across our primary and satellite locations. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively manage and monitor Drivers both locally and at satellite sites, solve day-to-day operational challenges, improve route efficiency, maintain DOT and company compliance, and ensure reliable customer service. Occasional travel to satellite locations may be required to support Drivers, review operations, provide training, and ensure company standards are consistently maintained. Key Responsibilities · Plan, review, and adjust daily routes for efficiency and service needs. · Supervise, coach, train, and hold Drivers accountable for performance, attendance, safety, and company policies. · Monitor and support Drivers operating from satellite locations to ensure consistent performance, communication, safety, and compliance. · Monitor route completion, mileage, labor hours, overtime, and productivity. · Respond to call-offs, delays, service changes, breakdowns, and other daily operational issues. · Coordinate Driver schedules, PTO, route coverage, and workload. · Oversee fleet readiness, inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, licensing, and required documentation. · Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, load securement, manifests, and transportation procedures. · Conduct Driver check-ins, route reviews, vehicle inspections, and quality-control checks. · Work closely with Warehouse and Office personnel to coordinate daily transportation needs. · Analyze transportation data and identify opportunities to reduce mileage, overtime, and operating costs. · Travel to satellite locations as needed to conduct Driver evaluations, ride-alongs, training, vehicle inspections, and operational reviews. · Provide route coverage and operate company vehicles when needed and properly qualified. Qualifications · Previous transportation, routing, dispatch, fleet, logistics, or similar operational experience. · Previous supervisory or management experience, including experience managing employees across multiple locations preferred. · Strong knowledge of route planning, transportation safety, and DOT requirements. · Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage Drivers. · Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. · Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and transportation/routing software. · Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. · Current DOT Medical Certificate or ability to obtain one. · Commercial driving and/or regulated waste industry experience preferred. · Ability and willingness to travel to Bio-MED satellite locations as operationally necessary. This is a hands-on management position that requires regular interaction with Drivers, vehicles, and transportation operations. The Manager will oversee Drivers operating from both the primary location and satellite sites. Flexibility in scheduling and occasional travel will be required based on transportation and service needs.
