Route Sales Delivery Driver

Job Summary Helados La Tapatia, Inc. is seeking a reliable, motivated, and customer-oriented Route Sales Representative to join our team in the ice cream industry. This position is responsible for driving a company truck along an established route to deliver and sell ice cream products, maintain customer accounts, merchandise products, manage inventory, collect payments, and provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, strong communication and customer service skills, good attention to detail, and the ability to build lasting relationships with customers while meeting sales and distribution goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Route Sales and Customer Service Drive a company truck safely along an established route to deliver and sell products. Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers. Follow up with customers to obtain orders and identify additional sales opportunities. Open new accounts with stores, markets, and chain retailers. Present the Helados La Tapatia product line professionally to current and prospective customers. Monitor customer pricing and negotiate prices within company guidelines. Listen to customer concerns and resolve service complaints professionally. 2. Product Delivery and Merchandising Deliver products accurately and on time according to customer orders. Stock and merchandise products on shelves, racks, freezers, bunkers, and cold boxes. Inspect each customer's freezer, bunker, or cold storage unit to verify inventory levels and product condition. Clean and organize customer freezers and bunkers as needed. Rotate products properly to maintain freshness and product quality. Post or update product pricing as required. Exchange damaged products and retrieve unsold or damaged merchandise according to company procedures. Pick up empty bunkers or other company equipment when necessary. Help ensure customer displays are properly stocked, clean, and organized. 3. Inventory and Order Management Calculate customer orders accurately and ensure proper billing. Take inventory at customer locations and place replenishment orders. Maintain accurate daily truck inventory records and complete required weekly inventory reports. Monitor product quantities to minimize shortages, damage, and inventory discrepancies. Ensure all products loaded, delivered, sold, returned, or remaining on the truck are properly accounted for. 4. Payment Collection and Account Management Collect customer payments and make accurate change when necessary. Follow up on outstanding invoices and collect past-due balances according to company policy. Handle customer payments, invoices, and billing records accurately. Follow company procedures for returned or insufficient-funds checks and report payment issues to management. Maintain accurate records of all sales, collections, credits, and product returns. 5. Documentation and Compliance Complete all required paperwork using a handheld computer, electronic system, or manual invoices. Maintain accurate sales, inventory, delivery, and customer account records. Complete customer contracts and new-account documentation accurately. Follow company policies, established procedures, and applicable governmental regulations. Maintain proper documentation for deliveries, payments, returns, and inventory adjustments. Qualifications and Requirements Valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned company vehicle. Safe driving record and ability to operate a company truck responsibly. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Basic to good mathematical skills, including calculating orders, handling payments, and making change. Ability to maintain accurate records and complete paperwork. Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
