Key Responsibilities:
• Drive a roll-off truck on designated routes to mechanically collect, exchange, or deliver containers.
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections and submit vehicle condition reports at the end of each shift.
• Interact courteously with customers while addressing questions and requests; report any issues to a supervisor.
• Maintain site cleanliness by removing loose trash from the truck and surrounding areas during collection.
• Keep a DOT logbook and daily route/productivity sheets, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maneuver the truck in tight spaces using mirrors for precision.
• Utilize maps and GPS to efficiently locate service addresses.
• Adhere to safe operating practices and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Monitor operations for loose debris and ensure a thorough site inspection before and after dumping.
• Follow all relevant DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and EPA regulations.
• Perform other job-related duties as needed.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• At least one year of commercial driving experience, or a CDL school certificate.
• Meet the criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to company standards.
• Demonstrate the ability to safely operate the truck and equipment.
• Experience operating a standard transmission on commercial trucks is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Familiarity with truck components and basic maintenance for safe operation.
• Ability to maneuver the truck in and out of tight spaces, using mirrors for guidance.
• Identify unacceptable waste types, such as flammable materials.
• Communicate effectively with customers and staff.
• Read and comprehend documents and maps.
• Follow both oral and written instructions.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Physical/Mental Demands:
• Capability to stand, walk, reach, bend, and use hands and fingers as needed.
• Visual requirements include various aspects of sight for safe driving and operations.
• Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Sitting for up to 75% of the time while driving may be needed.
• Ability to work in loud environments.
Working Conditions:
• Exposed to loud noise, humidity, extreme weather conditions, and fluctuating temperatures.
• Outdoor work environment throughout the day.
• Routes often take drivers away from the office location.
• Occasional work in high places may be required.
• Constant presence in traffic conditions.
