We are seeking a dedicated Rock Truck Driver to join our team at Frind Estate Winery. This role is responsible for operating a rock truck to transport materials, primarily rocks, gravel, and other construction aggregates across a developing vineyard site. This role is based in our North Okanagan location in Vernon. Responsibilities: Drive and operate rock trucks, which are large vehicles designed to transport heavy materials on construction sites or in mining operations. Load materials onto the truck using mechanical or manual methods, ensuring safe and secure transport. Transport materials to designated areas. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment. Perform routine maintenance checks on the truck to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or defects to maintenance personnel. Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and make decisions quickly and effectively. Maintain communication with supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow. Keep accurate records of materials transported, mileage covered, and any incidents that occur during operations. Follow environmental guidelines and regulations regarding the transport and disposal of materials, ensuring compliance with local laws. Other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: Minimum completion of secondary school. Valid Class 5 driver’s license in good standing. A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) may be required, depending on the jurisdiction. and the size of the truck being operated. Minimum of 3 years proven work experience operating heavy machinery in a construction, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment. Previous experience operating heavy equipment, especially rock trucks, is required. Proficiency in the operation of specific types of heavy equipment, with the ability to handle various tasks with precision and control. Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heavy equipment is desirable. Accuracy in loading and unloading materials and meticulousness in performing maintenance checks. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including the ability to lift up to 50+ lbs, climb into and out of heavy equipment and sit or stand for prolonged periods.. Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to heavy equipment operation, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Ability to operate heavy machinery in various weather conditions. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, ability to work well with others as part of a team, following instructions and communicating effectively. What We Offer The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00 per hour . It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
