Retail Sales - Building Materials

Worksource Oregon is partnering with a local building materials supplier to recruit and staff for the position of Sales Associate . REQUIREMENTS - Strong customer service orientation - Basic math accuracy, POS familiarity, basic computer and email skills - Building materials product knowledge or willingness to develop rapidly and retain - Reliable attendance and punctuality - Team-oriented work approach and attention to detail - Comfort selling and recommending products - Employer will perform a background and drug check JOB DUTIES Customer Service and Sales - Greet every customer on the retail floor within a defined timeframe - Answer product questions and recommend solutions based on the customer's project - Cross-sell complementary products to grow basket size - Follow up on customer questions and special requests - Quote windows, doors and assist with in-store door orders Transaction Processing - Process sales transactions accurately at the POS - Maintain cash drawer accuracy Stocking, Merchandising, and Store Standards - Restock and organize merchandise per store standards - Maintain signage, pricing accuracy, and shelf cleanliness - Support weekend and end-of-day stocking workflows - Identify and report slow-moving, damaged, or misplaced inventory Door Shop Support and Stocking - Reception and prep of incoming door units - Maintain stock of door-related and construction material - Process B-grade doors including pricing, merchandising, and customer education Performance Metrics / Scorecard - Customer satisfaction (qualitative and quantitative as measurement is implemented) - Average ticket value and attachment rate - Stocking and merchandising standards compliance - Attendance and punctuality - Product knowledge growth (assessed by the Assistant Director, Store Operations) HOURS - Full time - 8:00am- 5:00pm Monday through Thursday and Saturday. - Somewhat flexible, but Saturdays and Mondays are required weekly. PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Maneuver 50 pounds or more repeatedly - Standing, walking, and material handling for full shifts - Comfort working in both indoor store and outdoor yard environments
