Retail Community Food Service Driver (Step Van)

Job Summary The Niles Foundation is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Retail Community Food Service Driver (Step Van) to support retail service operations (high-quality pre-packaged foods only) throughout Los Angeles. Local hires only; no relocation. In this role, you will safely operate a step van, deliver products to retail and community locations, assist with product merchandising, and provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, comfortable working independently, and committed to creating a positive experience for customers and community partners. Responsibilities Safely operate a step van on assigned routes while following traffic laws and organizational safety procedures. Load, transport, and unload food products, supplies, and equipment. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns. Provide retail service accurately and on schedule to community and partner locations. Build positive relationships with customers through professional and responsive service. Assist with merchandising, product organization, and pricing verification. Maintain accurate delivery records, inventory counts, and route documentation. Support product demonstrations, educational promotions, and community engagement activities as assigned. Follow food handling, sanitation, and safety requirements at all times. Represent The Niles Foundation professionally and positively at all times. Qualifications Required Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record. Ability to safely operate a step van or similar delivery vehicle. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly. Strong customer service and communication skills. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently. Basic math skills for product counts, order verification, and pricing. Ability to use a smartphone, GPS, and delivery tracking tools. Preferred Experience in food distribution, delivery, logistics, warehouse, or retail operations. Experience driving step vans, box trucks, or commercial delivery vehicles. Merchandising, inventory, retail, or similar experience. Experience working directly with diverse populations. Bilingual English/Spanish helpful but not required.
