Residential Waste Collection Helper (Garbage Truck Helper)

Job Description Spindler Refuse is seeking dependable, hardworking, and physically capable individuals to join our team as Residential Waste Collection Helpers. We are strongly seeking candidates with previous experience in residential trash collection, sanitation, rear-load garbage trucks, or similar physically demanding outdoor positions. This is a fast-paced, physically demanding position that requires excellent attendance, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work safely and efficiently as part of a collection crew. Job Responsibilities Ride along with drivers on assigned residential waste collection routes. Collect and load residential trash into rear-load garbage trucks. Safely operate the truck's loading and compaction equipment after proper training. Lift, carry, and empty trash containers throughout assigned routes. Maintain a steady work pace while completing daily collection assignments. Follow all company safety procedures and instructions from drivers and supervisors. Assist drivers with navigating collection routes and identifying potential hazards. Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with residents and coworkers. Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. Qualifications & Requirements Previous residential waste collection or sanitation experience is strongly preferred. Experience working on rear-load garbage trucks is highly desirable. Must be physically capable of performing continuous lifting, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday. All candidates must successfully pass the company's required physical fitness test as a condition of employment. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and excellent attendance. Must be able to follow safety procedures and supervisor instructions. Must work effectively in a team environment. Must be available for early morning start times and work until assigned routes are completed. Physical Fitness Requirements This position requires a mandatory physical fitness test before employment. Candidates must demonstrate the physical ability to safely perform the essential duties of a residential waste collection helper, including: Repetitive lifting and handling of trash containers. Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Extended periods of walking and standing. Maintaining the physical endurance necessary to complete residential collection routes. Safely performing job-related physical tasks throughout a full shift. Successful completion of the company's job-related physical fitness assessment is required. All new employees are subject to an introductory probationary period.
