Reliability Engineer / Project Engineer
Martin BrowerPosition Summary: Primary role of the Reliability/ Project Engineer is to identify, manage, improve equipment run time and preventative maintenance program. At the same time, the role requires hands-on work through design, install and commissioning of projects. This is an exciting new role that will be instrumental in supporting our new distribution centre project in Vancouver while also contributing to the success of our existing distribution centre operation. During the first few months in the role, there will be a significant focus on onboarding, training, and operational immersion. To gain a hands-on understanding of our business and distribution centre operations, the successful candidate will be expected to travel to other facilities, primarily Calgary, AB and Oshawa, ON. The expectation is that the incumbent will spend approximately one week per month in the first 4 months traveling for training and knowledge transfer, providing valuable exposure to our processes, teams, and best operational practices. Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: Carry out daily checks on refrigeration equipment and make any necessary repairs or adjustments Monitor and adjust equipment to lower utility costs Tour (Gemba Walk) the facility on a regular basis to ensure equipment and building is safe Continuously develop preventative maintenance programs along with programs to respond to unexpected or emergency situations Track building and equipment repair. Monitor the performance of equipment, which includes monitoring preventative maintenance and safety programs Build and Analyze Equipment Reliability to find pattern / re-occurring issues. Use six sigma and kaizen mythology to lead and facilitate continuous improvement Make recommendations on programs and equipment to improve efficiency and meet ongoing customer requirements Implementation of Projects from inception to completion in order to satisfy Project Requirements Lead and manage the design and install of the Project to provide robust solutions that meet customer specification, budget and timeline Manage technical or engineering projects Operate in accordance with WHMIS and other regulations as required Ensure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulations Other projects or duties as assigned Required Skills and Experience: Proven knowledge in refrigerated warehouse environment 3-5 years experienve in a similar role Excellent organizational / communication skills, prestation skills, report writing skills Proven performance in continuous improvement environment Preferred Skills and Experience Post Secondary education or training in a Technical discipline is preferred (Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering) Mechanical, millright, electrical and/or welding experience is an asset
