Is thorough and observant, with the ability to identify defects and perform reliable inspections. Has good manual skills and is comfortable using tools to carry out minor repairs and preventive maintenance. Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and strong organizational skills. Works effectively independently while collaborating well with the team. Is comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all seasons and various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind. Has a positive attitude, is versatile, and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Is able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform pre-trip inspections (PTIs) on refrigerated containers in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and manufacturer specifications. Prepare refrigerated units for service and shipment by ensuring they meet operational and safety standards. Test refrigeration systems to verify proper operation, temperature control, alarms, and electrical components. Conduct visual, operational, and mechanical inspections of refrigeration units to identify defects, malfunctions, or irregularities. Report equipment deficiencies requiring additional repairs or specialized maintenance. Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner. Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on refrigeration units within established procedures and report equipment requiring corrective maintenance to the Reefer Technician. Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all health, safety, and environmental procedures. Communicate effectively with supervisors, technicians, and other maintenance staff regarding equipment status. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working with refrigeration units, transport refrigeration equipment, or heavy equipment maintenance is considered an asset. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs. Ability to read inspection procedures and complete electronic work orders. Ability to use computers and yard management systems. Basic knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
