Harcourt IndustrialReceiving & Material Inspection Associate Harcourt Industrial, Inc. – Madison Heights, MI Pay: From $23.00 per hour Job Type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Position Overview Harcourt Industrial is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Receiving & Material Inspection Associate to join our manufacturing and warehouse operations team. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with physical parts and components, has a good eye for detail, and understands the importance of accuracy in a manufacturing environment. Our receiving operation handles a wide variety of incoming materials. Before those materials can move through our operation, we need to know that we've received the correct items, in the correct quantities, and that they meet our expectations for quality. That's where you come in! You'll be responsible for helping receive, identify, verify, inspect, and organize incoming materials. This includes checking item numbers and quantities against purchase orders and packing slips, performing basic dimensional measurements, identifying visible defects or discrepancies, and ensuring materials are properly documented and ready for their next destination. Some days will be busier than others, and priorities can change quickly. We're looking for someone who can work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy, communicate when something doesn't look right, and take pride in getting the details right. We can teach many of our specific products, systems, and processes. What we're really looking for is someone who brings a strong work ethic, common sense, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. What You'll Do Your primary focus will be supporting our incoming receiving and material verification processes. Responsibilities may include: Receiving & Inventory Verification Receive and process incoming shipments. Open, unpack, sort, and identify incoming materials. Compare incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and other receiving documentation. Verify item numbers, descriptions, quantities, and other identifying information. Identify shortages, overages, incorrect parts, damaged packaging, or other discrepancies. Accurately record receiving information in our internal systems. Properly label, organize, and stage received materials for their next destination. Assist with inventory accuracy, stock organization, and cycle counts as needed. Material Inspection & Quality Verification Perform visual inspections of incoming components to identify obvious damage, defects, or inconsistencies. Use basic measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools, to verify dimensions when required. Compare parts and components against provided specifications, drawings, or other reference information. Verify that incoming materials meet established requirements before being released for further processing. Identify and communicate questionable or nonconforming materials to the appropriate team members. Document inspection findings and maintain accurate receiving and inspection records. Help ensure that only properly verified materials move forward through our operation. Warehouse & Manufacturing Support Work closely with warehouse, operations, production and manufacturing team members to keep incoming materials moving efficiently. Assist with organizing and staging materials for upcoming jobs or customer orders. Help maintain clean, organized, and efficient receiving and inspection areas. Support other warehouse or light manufacturing activities when receiving priorities allow. Communicate proactively when materials are missing, incorrect, questionable, or require additional attention. Balance multiple assignments and changing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
