We are seeking a motivated and eager Summer Intern to join our Ready-Mix team. This internship is designed for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in concrete operations and engineering applications within the construction materials industry.
The intern will assist with day-to-day plant and field activities, learn key operational and quality control processes, and gain exposure to engineering principles that directly impact production, performance, and cost control. Throughout the internship, you will participate in regular check-ins with your supervisor to track progress, receive feedback, and support your professional development.
What You'll Do
- Assist with daily plant and field operations, including equipment observation, maintenance support, testing, and material sampling.
- Gain hands-on exposure to engineering principles such as equipment performance, production rates, gradations, labor productivity, and cost control.
- Support quality control processes through testing and documentation under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Work alongside operations, production, and engineering staff to understand how ready-mix plants operate efficiently and safely.
- Participate in bi-weekly and monthly progress meetings to review assignments, receive feedback, and track learning objectives.
- Follow company safety policies and wear required PPE in plant and production environments.

What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management program
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Clean driving record that does not create insurance risk concerns (no moving violations within the past three years).
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings, weekends, or extended hours as needed.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass post-offer employment drug screen, background check, physical, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL not required).
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and dust.
- Ability to safely climb ladders and access equipment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and maneuver safely around equipment and vehicles.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas per OSHA/MSHA guidelines.
- Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend, holiday, or evening work. Hours may average 45+ per week.
