What will you need to succeed? Railways operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This shift-based position requires availability for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. Above-average computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft 365 environment and specialized software. Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly for radio communications. Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Rail Traffic Controller under the Canadian Rail Operating Rules, including meeting medical requirements and completing drug and alcohol testing. Ability to make sound decisions in a time-critical environment. Ability to multitask while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. Previous experience in the railway industry, air traffic control, dispatching, shift work, or a similar environment is considered an asset. Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required. What will you do? Ensure the safe movement of trains and on-track equipment. Plan and schedule train movements. Issue and communicate authorities governing train movements. Coordinate train meets safely and efficiently. Optimize rail network performance and resource use. Record information accurately in traffic control systems. Maintain current knowledge of operating rules, signals, and railway operations. Enter required data and operational information accurately. Help resolve issues within the assigned territory. Deliver excellent customer service. The successful candidate for this position must be fluent in French and English (oral and written) to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role. The role requires interaction with French and/or English speaking customers and suppliers across Canada and/or abroad. The role requires regular interaction with Siemens colleagues based in Quebec, Ontario, nationally and internationally. About us. We share our ideas and champion the people behind them.
