Role Description The Truck Dispatcher – Rail Drayage is a full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles, CA. The dispatcher coordinates daily rail drayage operations, including scheduling and assigning drivers, strategically planning routes, and managing pickup and delivery times between rail yards, warehouses, and customer facilities. This role involves monitoring shipments, updating load statuses, communicating proactively with drivers, customers, and internal team members, and resolving any service or delay issues. The dispatcher maintains accurate records in transportation management systems, verifies required documentation, and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable transportation regulations. The role also includes working closely with accounting and safety teams to support safety standards, and cost-effective utilization of equipment and drivers. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in truck dispatching, rail drayage, or intermodal transportation, with strong understanding of rail ramps, and local/regional trucking operations. Proficiency with dispatch or transportation management systems, basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets), and ability to learn company-specific software tools. Strong communication and customer service skills, including clear telephone and written communication and the ability to coordinate with drivers, customers, and internal staff. Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with skills in scheduling, prioritizing multiple loads, and maintaining accurate documentation. Ability to analyze routing options, address service issues quickly, and make sound decisions under time pressure. Knowledge of basic transportation regulations and safety practices; experience in intermodal or logistics operations is required. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or training in logistics, transportation, or supply chain is a plus. Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, CA, with a reliable work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
