Working under the direction of our electrical and mechanical engineers, you will build, test and troubleshoot high-voltage generators, control panels, vacuum chambers and plasma systems, and support installation and service at customer sites. The company is small, so you will also support the materials side of our builds: purchasing parts from Bills of Materials (BOMs), receiving shipments, kitting parts for builds and running shortage checks to keep build schedules on track. This role suits someone who wants to work in several areas of expertise over time and grow their skill set to meet project needs. Jupiter Volta is an early-stage startup. Compensation includes equity and is based on experience. Key Responsibilities: R&D Equipment Build & Assembly Build cable, electrical, mechanical and vacuum assemblies. Complete wiring such as control data terminals, DC power, cable terminations and AC-powered components. Operate hand, power and bench tools to assemble or quickly rework parts. Support the development team with disassembly, troubleshooting, installation and assembly of prototypes of advanced manufacturing equipment. Testing & Troubleshooting Perform standard testing and troubleshooting of vacuum and plasma systems. Perform helium leak checks. Check for defects, report problems as they arise and perform rework as directed. Field Service Travel internationally to customer sites for installation and service visits. Materials & Build Support Order parts and components from BOMs and track deliveries to keep builds on schedule. Receive incoming shipments and log them into inventory. Prepare part kits for upcoming builds. Flag part shortages and long-lead items to the engineering team early. Key Qualifications: Experience: Experience as an assembly, equipment or electronics technician. Experience in purchasing, receiving or inventory management in a hardware, electronics or manufacturing environment is a plus. Technical Skills: Read, interpret and follow technical drawings, CAD models, electrical schematics, P&ID diagrams, operating procedures and testing documentation. Vacuum system experience (semiconductor equipment, etc.) Hand soldering, electronics troubleshooting and EE shop practices. Experienced in operating hand, power and bench tools. Basic understanding of BOMs, engineering drawings and component part numbers. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, quality-focused, willing to learn, with strong organizational habits and clear written and verbal communication. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, walk or stand for extended periods in a lab, shop or stockroom environment, and handle delicate components. Travel & Location: On-site attendance in Richmond, CA is required. Must have a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally to customer sites for service visits. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills Cable and harness assembly experience. High-voltage experience. Experience in electronics, electro-mechanical or hardware startup environment. Basic understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling procedures. Familiarity with vendor management and lead time tracking, inventory control systems, ERP or MRP software (e.g., NetSuite, Arena, Odoo, SAP or similar). Experience communicating with international suppliers/vendors, including basic familiarity with international shipping procedures or customs documentation. Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Work Location: In person
