Quality Control Laboratory Technician Position Summary The Quality Control (QC) Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and company quality requirements. This position requires a strong background in analytical chemistry, hands-on laboratory experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments. The successful candidate will support quality assurance initiatives while maintaining compliance with the company’s quality management requirements and laboratory best practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. Conduct testing in accordance with USP, ACS, ASTM, customer specifications, and internal analytical methods. Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation including: ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy) ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) UV-Visible Spectrophotometry Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) Perform a wide variety of classical wet chemistry techniques including: Acid-base titrations Gravimetric analysis Precipitation reactions Solution preparation and standardization pH measurements Moisture determination Other quantitative analytical techniques Prepare analytical standards, reagents, and calibration solutions. Review analytical data for accuracy and completeness before releasing results. Maintain complete, accurate, and legible laboratory records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices. Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) or abnormal laboratory results and assist with root cause investigations. Assist in laboratory method development, method validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform routine instrument verification, calibration, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained in a clean, organized, and inspection-ready condition. Follow all laboratory safety procedures, chemical hygiene practices, and environmental regulations. Support internal and external audits by providing laboratory records and technical documentation. Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Technical teams to resolve quality-related issues. Assist with laboratory inventory management, chemical storage, and ordering of laboratory supplies. Participate in continuous improvement projects and support implementation of new analytical methods. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry or similar required. Minimum of 2 years of analytical laboratory experience in a manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or related laboratory environment preferred. Demonstrated experience performing monograph testing using USP, ACS, ASTM, or equivalent analytical methods. Hands-on experience with wet chemistry analytical techniques. Experience operating ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS instrumentation. Experience using UV-Visible Spectrophotometers. Experience using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) preferred Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory calculations. Experience working within an ISO 9001 or similarly regulated quality management system preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
