Job Summary:

The Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of the company’s goods.  This position is responsible for working directly with operations to ensure demand and inventory targets are met, undertaking major contract negotiations, contributing to the development of established supply policies and procedures, preparing reports and communicating inventory measurements to management, developing and monitoring distribution requirement plans, and working closely with Sales and Commercialization to identify proactive inventory adjustments. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains department supervisors and team members. 

  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.  

  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage, guide and develop the supply chain team to ensure: Detailed Production Scheduling is consistently delivering achievable plans for both manufacturing and filling/packaging operations within given Production Schedule, whilst minimizing production costs.

  • Material Management Planning (Inbound Material Management) ensures raw & packaging material and inter factory/market supply available on time and quality at best overall costs for seamless manufacturing; co-ordinates with suppliers of raw and packaging materials, inter factory/market supply from respective factories, aligning with contract manufacturers for maintaining service levels while constantly seeking improvement possibilities.

  • Material Handling and warehousing operations for raw & packaging material (including returnable materials),  prepare Raw material to be ready to supply in Production and for finished goods within company guidelines; records accurately the inventory and checks inventory rotation; controls and coordinates all documents relevant to receipt and dispatch of goods.

  • Monitor remaining shelf-life of these materials and ensure no expired stocks being consumed for production.

  • Ensure smooth operations by effective communication and close collaboration with Internal partners.

  • Collaborate with peers to share best practices and to drive continuous improvement.

  • Provide timely feedback and coaching to individuals and team in order to develop them to their full potential and to achieve objectives. Ensure succession plans and development - coaching of direct reports (where applicable) including development of specific training.

  • Communicate effectively downstream needs to instill customer service orientation.

  • Lead a continuous improvement/employee involvement culture. Drive for excellence and support operators and staff in their tasks.

  • Ensure smooth operations of the inventory control systems i.e., inventory between NetSuite  versus physical stock are accurate.

  • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.

  • Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes. 

  • Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.

  • Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.

  • Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.

  • Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials.  

  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.  

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 


Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers. 

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Thorough understanding of company products and logistics.  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • NetSuite experience preferred


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Three years of experience as a supervisor, manager, or similar relevant position required.


Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
