Based in Morrilton, Arkansas, the company has expanded its operations and relocated to a new larger headquarters to better serve its clients and enhance operational efficiency. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Purchasing Supervisor to oversee and coordinate procurement activities within our organization. This role involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely acquisition of quality materials and supplies. Responsibilities Procurement Execution: Process and execute purchase orders to secure cost-effective, high-quality materials and services. Category Tracking: Review and monitor product lines and manufacturers to ensure stock accurately aligns with distribution demands and sales trends. Margin & Rebate Tracking Optimization: Review vendor pricing and coordinate manufacturer rebate programs to protect and optimize distribution margins. Supplier Relations: Build, evaluate, and maintain strategic, long-term relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management: Source new suppliers, new products, and alternative products. Contract Negotiation: Secure favorable pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and robust service level agreements (SLAs). Demand Forecasting: Analyze historical sales data and seasonal trends to project purchasing needs, preventing stockouts or dead inventory. Inventory Efficiency: Partner with warehouse and inventory control teams to monitor stock levels, minimize lead times, and optimize inventory turnover ratios. Spoilage & Shrink Tracking: Monitor inventory velocity and track product expiration dates to eliminate warehouse spoilage and shrink. Disruption Resolution: Identify the causes of supply chain disruptions and collaborate with teams to implement realistic corrective actions. Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and guide the purchasing staff, serving as the daily point of contact to ensure operational excellence. Operational Accountability: Oversee the daily tracking of open purchase orders by the purchasing staff, ensuring order statuses are accurately updated and delivery delays are proactively escalated. Experience Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or coursework in business or supply chain is a plus. Experience: 2–4 years of solid, practical experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain logistics. Prior experience leading or mentoring others (e.g., as a senior buyer or team lead) is highly valued, but expert-level executive management experience is not required. Core Skills & Proficiencies Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, with direct, hands-on experience utilizing Sage 50 and Sage Intacct preferred. Applied Negotiation: Demonstrated ability to negotiate standard vendor contracts and supply agreements successfully. Analytical Ability: Capable of evaluating cost data, market trends, and pricing proposals to make data-driven decisions. Problem-Solving & Accuracy: High attention to detail to catch pricing errors, analyze stock levels, and resolve logistics issues. Practical Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for diplomacy, resolving everyday workplace conflicts, and collaborating across warehouse and logistics teams.
