Purchasing & Receiving Specialist — Manufacturing

Compensation: $22-25 / hr Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, day shift Location: On-site in Post Falls, Idaho, with a planned move to Spokane Valley, Washington, at the end of 2026 MGM Innovative Tech Group is a growing tube laser cutting company in Post Falls, Idaho. We combine manufacturing with custom quoting and order management software to make buying custom metal parts straightforward. We’re looking for someone who is organized, resourceful, and dependable about following through. You should be comfortable working with suppliers, keeping accurate records, and checking that the material we receive matches what we ordered. In this role, you’ll own purchasing, receiving, and incoming material inspection. You’ll source materials, place orders, track deliveries, inspect incoming material, and make sure production knows what is available and ready to use. This role combines computer work and supplier communication with hands-on receiving responsibilities in the shop. You’ll work directly with the owner and operations team, with room to take increasing responsibility as you learn the business. Role and responsibilities Source materials and place purchase orders. Purchase metal tubing approved outside services. Compare suppliers based on specification, availability, price, freight cost, and delivery reliability. Confirm requirements and obtain approval for proposed substitutions before ordering. Track orders and follow up with suppliers. Obtain order confirmations, verify delivery dates, and maintain an accurate list of open purchases. Follow up on delays, communicate changes to operations, and work with suppliers to resolve issues before they disrupt production. Coordinate inbound shipping. Arrange shipping with vendors to meet the lead time requirements of the particular project. Receive deliveries and inspect incoming material. Coordinate unloading and physically check delivered material against purchase orders and receiving requirements. Verify dimensions, wall thickness, length, quantity, and condition as applicable. Check material grade and required certifications against supplier documentation, and record actual received quantities. Resolve incorrect or questionable deliveries. Identify and hold material that is damaged, incorrect, missing required documentation, or otherwise does not meet requirements. Document discrepancies and work with suppliers and operations on replacements, returns, credits, or other approved resolutions. Keep material on hold until the required checks and approvals are complete. Maintain material identification and inventory records. Label received material, record its location, and make sure the team can identify what it is and which job it belongs to. Preserve heat numbers, material certificates, and other traceability information when required. Keep available, allocated, and held material clearly identified. Keep purchasing and receiving documentation accurate. Maintain purchase orders, supplier confirmations, packing slips, receiving records, and material certificates. Help resolve differences between what was ordered, received, and invoiced. Improve how we work. Identify recurring shortages, supplier problems, unnecessary purchases, gaps in inventory records, and software issues. Help improve our purchasing and receiving processes as the business grows. Required skills and experience Relevant experience: Previous experience in purchasing, material coordination, receiving, inventory management, or metal distribution, with demonstrated responsibility for accurate records and dependable follow-through. Material knowledge: Familiarity with metal products and common material specifications. You should be comfortable working with dimensions, wall thicknesses, stock lengths, quantities, and material grades.
