This role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, packaging supplies, production materials, and operational goods while maintaining optimal inventory levels and supporting uninterrupted production operations. The ideal candidate has strong leadership, analytical, and negotiation skills, with experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, and pricing negotiations within a manufacturing or food production environment. Key Responsibilities Purchasing Procurement Oversee all purchasing and procurement activities to support daily manufacturing and operational needs. Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with production schedules, quality standards, and company objectives. Source, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors. Manage purchase orders, supplier agreements, and procurement documentation. Ensure timely delivery of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and other production necessities. Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve purchasing efficiency. Pricing Contract Negotiations Lead pricing negotiations with suppliers and vendors to secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and optimal contract conditions. Analyze supplier quotes, market trends, and cost fluctuations to support strategic purchasing decisions. Negotiate long-term supplier agreements and establish pricing structures that support budgetary goals. Monitor commodity prices and identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality. Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships while ensuring competitive purchasing practices. Inventory Management Control Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and other essential supplies. Establish and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize waste, shortages, and excess stock. Collaborate with production, warehouse, and planning teams to forecast material requirements. Monitor inventory turnover, stock levels, expiration dates, and reorder points. Ensure proper rotation of perishable materials using FIFO (First In, First Out) and applicable food safety practices. Implement inventory tracking systems and reporting procedures to improve accuracy and operational efficiency. Identify and address inventory discrepancies, obsolete stock, and potential supply chain disruptions. Supplier Vendor Management Evaluate supplier performance based on cost, quality, reliability, service, and delivery timelines. Conduct regular supplier reviews and address performance issues as needed. Develop contingency plans to reduce risks associated with supply shortages and vendor disruptions. Ensure suppliers meet company requirements for food safety, quality, and applicable regulatory standards. Maintain accurate vendor records and purchasing documentation. Budgeting Cost Control Manage purchasing budgets and monitor spending against established financial targets. Prepare purchasing reports, cost analyses, and inventory performance metrics. Identify opportunities to reduce operating expenses and improve overall procurement efficiency. Work closely with finance and operations teams to support forecasting and financial planning. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with production, quality assurance, warehouse, logistics, and finance departments to ensure seamless operations.
