GHS Strings, a Michigan manufacturer serving musicians since 1964, is hiring a hands-on Purchasing Manager to move us from reactive, order-by-order planning to a proactive, data-driven process that improves availability, delivery reliability, and profitability. WHAT YOU’LL DO Manage use of Microsoft Dynamics GP’s ERP/MRP capabilities for purchasing, inventory, material planning, and scheduling Improve BOMs, supplier lead times, reorder points, and safety stock Purchase materials, components, packaging, and outside services; manage POs, pricing, and supplier terms Build supplier relationships and backup sources, resolve shortages and late deliveries, and cut emergency orders and expedited freight Maintain a rolling eight-week production schedule, updated weekly Coordinate production with materials, labor, and equipment, and flag delays before they affect shipments Give Sales and Customer Service realistic completion and ship dates Set inventory targets, monitor slow-moving and obsolete stock, and support cycle counts Improve inventory accuracy, including barcode and scanning controls WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Hands-on manufacturing purchasing, material planning, production scheduling, or supply chain experience ERP/MRP experience that goes beyond basic transaction entry Experience maintaining BOMs, lead times, reorder points, and safety stock Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills A practical approach to improving processes in a small-to-mid-sized manufacturer PREFERRED Experience implementing or improving ERP/MRP processes Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) experience Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience BENEFITS Paid vacation Paid holidays Health insurance 401(k) with employer match Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Health insurance Paid time off Work Location: In person
