Purchasing Manager Tongrun International | Bonham, TX | Full-Time, On-Site Are you an experienced purchasing professional with a strong background in manufacturing and metals sourcing? Tongrun International is looking for a Purchasing Manager to lead our purchasing team and drive supplier performance, cost savings, and material availability. In this leadership role, you’ll oversee purchasing activities for our sheet metal manufacturing operations, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, hardware, tooling, consumables, and outside processing. You’ll work closely with production planning, engineering, quality, estimating, and finance to ensure materials arrive on time, meet specifications, and support production goals while maintaining competitive costs and healthy inventory levels. What You’ll Do Lead, train, and develop the purchasing team, including setting goals, assigning responsibilities, and coaching buyers. Develop strategic sourcing plans and negotiate supplier agreements to achieve cost savings and reliable material supply. Build and maintain strong relationships with metal service centers, mills, distributors, and finishing vendors. Evaluate and qualify new suppliers while maintaining reliable backup sources for critical materials. Monitor supplier performance, quality, pricing, and delivery, and drive corrective action when needed. Manage purchasing budgets, material cost targets, savings initiatives, and pricing variances. Partner with production planning to ensure materials support production schedules and customer delivery commitments. Manage stocking strategies, reorder points, safety stock, and inventory reduction initiatives. Ensure purchase orders meet material specifications, quality requirements, and traceability standards. Maintain accurate supplier, item, pricing, and lead-time information in the ERP system. Track and report purchasing metrics, including spend, savings, supplier delivery performance, and inventory turns. Support audits, compliance requirements, and invoice discrepancy resolution. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, including 2 or more years leading or supervising buyers. Strong knowledge of metals purchasing, including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, material grades, gauges, finishes, and pricing. Proven success negotiating supplier agreements and achieving measurable cost savings. Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems for purchasing, planning, and inventory control. Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience Purchasing experience in sheet metal fabrication, stamping, or contract manufacturing. Familiarity with laser cutting, turret punching, press brakes, welding, and finishing processes. Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor, JobBOSS, E2/Shoptech, SAP, or Global Shop Solutions.
