Purchasing Inventory Manager
1st Network SolutionsOur client is a growing manufacturer of tangible products seeking a hands-on Purchasing & Inventory Manager to oversee purchasing, inventory, materials planning, and logistics. This role will work closely with Production and Operations to ensure the right materials are available at the right time while maintaining accurate inventory levels and resolving discrepancies. Key Responsibilities Manage purchasing and procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies to support production requirements. Oversee inventory of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods , maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Manage and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) , item data, purchasing information, and inventory records. Work directly with Production to identify material requirements, shortages, production constraints, and inventory issues. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and monitor supplier performance and delivery. Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including freight, deliveries, and material movement. Monitor inventory accuracy and conduct cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies. Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify cost savings, excess/obsolete inventory, and opportunities to improve working capital. Develop purchasing and replenishment processes as the company grows, balancing production needs with inventory investment. Maintain accurate purchase orders, receiving records, inventory transactions, and related documentation. Use Microsoft Excel extensively to analyze purchasing, inventory, production, and supply chain data. Utilize ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, Peachtree, MAS 90, or similar platforms to manage purchasing and inventory information. Partner with Production, Operations, Accounting, and other departments to improve material availability, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency. Provide hands-on leadership and problem-solving in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial manufacturing environment. Identify and implement improvements to purchasing, inventory control, materials planning, and logistics processes. Qualifications 5+ years of purchasing, supply chain, materials management, and/or inventory management experience. Previous experience working for a manufacturer of a tangible product is required . Demonstrated experience managing raw materials, BOMs, inventory, purchasing, and logistics in a manufacturing environment. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze and manipulate large amounts of data. Experience with an ERP or inventory management system; NetSuite, Peachtree, MAS 90, or similar software preferred . Hands-on, detail-oriented leader who is comfortable working directly with Production and getting into the details to solve problems.
