Purchasing & Inventory Control Specialist

Overview We are seeking a focused, detail-oriented Purchasing & Inventory Control Specialist to lead our procurement and inventory control functions. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end supply chain processes, ensuring optimal inventory levels, timely procurement, and seamless coordination across manufacturing and logistics teams. Your expertise will drive efficiency, reduce costs, and support our food processing operations by managing supplier relationships, utilizing advanced inventory management systems, and implementing best practices in materials planning. Key Responsibilities Oversee procurement of raw materials, packaging, and operational supplies to ensure continuous production Manage inventory levels of fresh and frozen meat products, ensuring proper rotation and minimizing spoilage Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules Monitor stock levels and forecast demand based on production plans and sales trends Coordinate with production, quality assurance, receiving, and logistics to align purchasing and inventory strategies Ensure compliance with food safety regulation, storage standards, and traceability requirements Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with sanitation standards Implement and maintain inventory management systems and accurate recordkeeping Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency Follow all USDA, OSHA, food safety, and plant safety regulations Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Experience in food production, meat processing, or perishable goods industry is preferred 3 or more years of experience in supply chain operations Experience with inventory management systems Proven track record of managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts Skills Strong understanding of inventory control principles Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and forecast needs Knowledge of food safety regulations Proficiency in inventory and procurement software (SAP, Oracle, or similar) Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Willingness to learn and take direction Preferred (But Not Required) Experience in meat processing or protein-based manufacturing environments Certification in supply chain or procurement Lean manufacturing experience Bilingual (English/Spanish) Join us as a Purchasing & Inventory Control Specialist to lead our supply chain excellence!
