Purchasing Coordinator
Seaford Avenue Corp.Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee the purchasing of materials, equipment, parts, and supplies for our construction projects and day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for obtaining competitive pricing, managing vendor relationships, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring materials are available when needed to keep projects moving. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the purchasing process from material requests through delivery. Review project requirements, material lists, specifications, and purchase requests. Obtain and compare vendor quotes for pricing, availability, quality, and delivery. Issue and manage purchase orders and track orders through completion. Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and delivery schedules with vendors. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Monitor open orders and proactively address backorders, shortages, delays, and other issues that could impact projects. Work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Field Personnel, and other departments to ensure materials are purchased and delivered according to project schedules. Verify quantities, pricing, specifications, and delivery information for accuracy. Resolve issues involving incorrect, damaged, or short shipments and invoice discrepancies. Source alternative products or suppliers when necessary. Monitor material and equipment costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Assist with inventory management and maintain appropriate stock levels. Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, pricing, and related documentation. Continuously look for ways to improve purchasing processes, efficiency, and cost control. Qualifications Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management. Construction industry experience preferred. Strong vendor management and negotiation skills. Ability to read and understand material lists, specifications, and project documentation. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with project and field teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications. Experience with purchasing or construction management software is a plus.
