Purchasing Clerk

The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for maintaining inventory levels, processing purchase orders, and supporting the overall purchasing process in accordance with company policies and industry standards. Responsibilities Arrange the purchase of supplies, materials, and services in line with purchasing policies and requester specifications. Contact suppliers and vendors to obtain competitive price bids, determine availability, terms, and delivery schedules, and evaluate quotes to recommend actions. Process paperwork and forms, including purchase orders; verify receipt of goods and resolve discrepancies related to price, delivery, or condition. Order and reorder inventory stock items, supplies, and materials; work with the receiving team to monitor inventory levels and establish minimum quantities. Maintain comprehensive records of orders, supplies, contracts, deliveries, and payments to help resolve variances or disputes. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and maintain a safe, healthy work environment by adhering to standards, procedures, and legal regulations. Report any potential food safety or animal welfare issues to management immediately. Report damages to company vehicles, equipment, or buildings through the appropriate maintenance work order process. Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with all company policies and procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of two years of relevant purchasing experience. Reliable transportation to the worksite. Knowledge of storeroom practices and stock record systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook preferred. Ability to plan and schedule purchasing activities efficiently. Strong record-keeping and organizational skills. Knowledge of inventory control and tracking. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures. Physical ability to regularly work around moving machinery, move up to 50 pounds alone and 80 pounds with assistance, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform bending, stretching, pushing, and pulling as needed.
