Under the supervision of the Purchasing Supervisor, the Purchasing Clerk assists the Purchasing Department with daily administrative tasks, inventory data maintenance, material receiving (steel and subcontracted galvanizing), and cross-departmental operational support.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Receiving & Material Management:

  • Process the receiving of steel materials and subcontracted galvanizing services using the computerized system.
  • Manage, verify, and file mill test reports (MTR) and heat/cast test documentation.
  • Maintain and update the steel scrap and reject tracking file.
  • Track sling inspections and repairs, and maintain the compliance register/log.
  • Learn and manage material substitutions and inventory reservations to support production and planning.

System Maintenance & Inventory Control (Intéral / ERP):

  • Create and maintain product/item master codes in the system (Intéral).
  • Monitor and adjust minimum/maximum (min/max) inventory levels.

Administrative & Purchasing Support:

  • Support the Purchasing and Planning departments with day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Manage inventory and place orders for office supplies, stationery, printer cartridges, etc.
  • Oversee breakroom and kitchen supplies (coffee, milk, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams regarding purchase orders and delivery follow-ups.

HR & Internal Support:

  • Assist Human Resources with the ordering and distribution of work uniforms and safety boots.
  • Manage employee locker assignments and records.
  • Perform any other related tasks requested by the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Vocational Diploma (DEP) in Office Automation / Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in an administrative support or purchasing/inventory role.
  • Strong sense of initiative, accountability, and responsibility.
  • Team player with strong adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • Highly organized, meticulous, and detail-oriented.
  • Bilingualism in English and French (written and spoken) to effectively support our US plant operations and communicate with predominantly English-speaking suppliers.
