Purchasing Buyer

Identifies, research, evaluates and selects suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing and reliability of supply. Sets and achieves day-to-day objectives that have some impact on others within job area. Minimum Requirements: Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks. Must be willing and available to work scheduled shift. Must be willing and available to work full-time and overtime as needed. Must be at least 18 years of age Legally authorized to work in the U.S. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate all new program start-ups with vendors concerning Tool GO, engineering levels, submission dates, pre-production release requirements and issuing ESTA’s. Maintain accurate purchase order records as to piece price and engineering levels. Coordinate all engineering changes as to cost, effectivity dates, vendor submissions, and implementation dates. Participate in the Quality Assurance Visit (QAV) team, including vendor surveys and monthly vendor evaluations. Identify and implement cost reduction measures through market testing and material substitution to improve company profitability. Coordinate implementation through engineering, quality and sales as required. Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvement in efficiency of department and services performed. Prioritize and complete multiple tasks as scheduled with minimal supervision and work overtime as needed (daily, weekends, shutdown, etc.) Communicate and work effectively with peers and management. Implement and utilize methods for continuous improvement. Stop production if defective or unsafe parts or conditions appear. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. Qualifications: University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Customer/Supplier Negotiations. 3 years suggested minimum experience. Metal/Stamping experience a plus. SAP S4/Hana experience a plus. High degree of professionalism along with organizational skills, tact and diplomacy. Effective oral and written communications and excellent interpersonal skills. Solid analytical skills in forecasting and cost analysis. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations daily. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Reporting Relationship: Supply Chain Manager
