Purchasing/Buyer

Purchasing Specialist Primary Objective: This individual is responsible for the timely purchase of all materials, supplies and sub-contract services for CompuCraft Fabricators Inc., while ensuring cost effectiveness and quality. They are responsible for identifying all materials requiring special certifications, or testing required by the customers purchase order. Maintain a high level of communication both written and verbal with external suppliers and internal departments. Position reports directly to General Manager Job Responsibilities: Create detailed, clear, and concise purchase orders for outside services as required for all jobs. Ensure all purchased items are ordered in accordance with all customer supplied specifications. Analyze current purchasing activities and recommend improvement through more efficient methods, quantity discounts, standardization. Expedites outstanding purchase orders to ensure delivery requirements are met. Prepare and maintains accurate records and documentation on all solicitations, responses, purchases, contracts, correspondence and follow up. Ability to work in a fast pace environment. Organizing and planning ability- problem solving and time management skills are a must. Meeting and working under tight deadlines, prioritizing to meet goals. Assist in resolving accounts payable invoice discrepancies and variances with accounting. Maintain consistent communication with shipping and manufacturing departments for deliveries and pick up of material or subcontract services. Provide all proper documentation for material certifications supplied to Quality Control. Assist as required in ISO 9001 audits as it pertains to purchasing. Monitor and verify existing materials in inventory to reduce cost. Requirements/ qualifications: Proven experience as a buyer with a minimum of 5 years of purchasing in a manufacturing job shop environment. Business/ Accounting Degree is desirable. Excellent math and communication skills. Negotiation skills: This individual will be working with multiple vendors or suppliers to obtain the best value for the company. This will require proven negotiations and networking. Decision making skills: This individual will gather information to make decisions for the company. Analytical skills: This individual will work with multiple vendors to determine the best value for the company based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors. Team skills: being able to work with others in a collaborative management environment, and working independently as well as working on a team. This individual is a critical pivotal position between cost estimating, sales, and accounting, as well as production, inspection and shipping.
