Purchasing Associate
Maxson Automatic MachineryCompensation: $24.00 - $26.00/hr, depending on experience MAXSON AUTOMATIC MACHINERY COMPANY has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Associate. A. Purpose of Position: The purpose of the Purchasing Associate is to coordinate activities involved with the procurement of goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. The Purchasing Associate is also responsible for coordinating the Purchasing Department's efforts with other departments to provide a timely, profitable product to the customer. Strong organization and communication skills. 2) Duties and Responsibilities Sets up purchase orders, vendor files, reviews shipping receipts and coordinates with work orders using GLOBAL SHOP SOLUTIONS ERP software. Reviews requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, terms, availability and delivery schedule. Identifies, evaluates and selects vendors. Prepares purchase orders and bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains accurate purchasing records, including invoices, packing slips and contracts. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with production personnel, engineering, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Expedites delivery of goods from vendors and follows up on past due purchase orders. Support Accounts Payable by resolving discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate of Business, Accounting, Supply Chain or related degree (A. S.) or equivalent from two year technical college; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in MICROSOFT Office software required, with Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPS, basic formulas, data entry accuracy). Experience with ERP or MRP systems valued. Experience with GLOBAL SHOP SOLUTIONS ERP System is a plus. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as Bills of materials, proposals, contracts and the likes. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
