Purchasing Agent

Summertown Metals | Hopkinsville, KY Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Summertown Metals is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. This position supports purchasing and inventory operations by sourcing building materials, negotiating pricing, maintaining accurate records, and building strong vendor relationships. Responsibilities Purchasing Agent will help with purchases of inventory, receiving, record keeping, inventory control, and vendor relations. Stay up to date with purchase orders and submit in a timely manner. Work diligently to find the best prices on products that are needed. Create purchase orders accurately and attach correct documents. Design trusses to send to in house truss shop or to off-site truss shop. Learn processes of the purchasing office. Attain knowledge of windows, doors, trusses and blueprints. Maintain and update company database for inventory. Develop vendor relations. Notify sales and shipping of material issues and lead times. Work with sales team, CAD dept. and customers to meet their needs. Skills and Qualifications Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through. Effective communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records. Ability to work well with vendors, customers, and coworkers. Willingness to learn company procedures, building products, and software systems.
