Purchasing Agent

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials and services essential to our operations. Your expertise in supply chain management systems and vendor relationship management will ensure the seamless flow of inventory, optimize procurement processes, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our supply chain. Independently sources and purchases electronic components, mechanical parts, materials and supplies for Elecraft amateur radio products and accessories. Uses ERP/MRP information, production schedules, forecasts and customer backlog to maintain material availability, resolve shortages and control inventory costs within management-approved purchasing limits. Job Duties Independently sources and purchases components and materials to support production requirements. Uses ERP/MRP data, forecasts and customer backlog to determine purchasing needs across products. Identifies and resolves material shortages to minimize production delays. Selects and manages suppliers and negotiates pricing and terms within approved purchasing authority. Balances material availability, inventory levels and purchasing costs within company priorities. Coordinates with Engineering and Production on component changes, approved alternatives and supplier quality issues. Maintains accurate purchasing information and open orders in the ERP system. Experience Proven experience working with ERP systems. Strong background in supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement processes within manufacturing environments. Demonstrated ability in vendor relationship management and negotiation to achieve cost savings and service excellence. Proficiency in using spreadsheets and Excel data analysis tools for reporting and decision-making purposes. Familiarity with purchasing management systems that are technically supported within an organization’s supply chain infrastructure. Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems and direct negotiation procurement strategies. Excellent communication skills for vendor negotiations and internal stakeholder collaboration.
