Purchasing Agent

About the Position RAV Bahamas / OPAC Bahamas is seeking an experienced Purchasing & International Shipping Coordinator to support the purchasing and shipment of construction materials, equipment, parts, and supplies from Miami to our projects in Bimini, Bahamas. This is a hands-on coordination role for someone with experience purchasing construction-related materials and managing shipping and logistics. The position works directly with vendors, the Miami warehouse, and our Bahamas operations team to ensure materials are purchased, delivered, and shipped correctly and on time. Previous professional experience purchasing construction, electrical, plumbing, and/or building materials is required. Candidates must also have a minimum of 5 years of professional shipping/logistics experience and be fluent in both English and Spanish. Responsibilities * Purchase construction materials, electrical and plumbing supplies, equipment, parts, and other materials requested by the operations team. * Contact vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and lead times. * Compare quotes and place approved orders. * Create and maintain purchase orders (POs) and related purchasing records. * Follow up with vendors regarding order confirmations, invoices, delivery dates, and tracking information. * Coordinate vendor deliveries to the Miami warehouse. * Coordinate with the warehouse and freight/shipping partners for shipments to the Bahamas. * Track purchases and shipments from order placement through final delivery. * Maintain invoices, packing lists, and shipping documentation. * Follow up on back orders, shortages, substitutions, incorrect shipments, damaged products, and returns. * Keep organized records of pending, in-transit, and completed orders. * Communicate with vendors, warehouse personnel, and the Bahamas operations team regarding order and shipment status. Required Qualifications * Minimum 5 years of professional shipping and/or logistics experience. * Professional experience purchasing construction materials, electrical supplies, plumbing supplies, and/or building materials. * Fluent in both English and Spanish. * Experience working directly with vendors and suppliers. * Strong organizational and follow-up skills. * Strong attention to detail with quantities, pricing, dates, and documentation. * Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, shared documents, and web-based systems. * Ability to work full-time on-site in Miami, Florida. * Authorized to work in the United States. Additional Experience That Is a Plus Experience with international shipping, freight forwarders, container shipments, Bahamas shipping/customs, heavy equipment or equipment parts, QuickBooks, or purchasing software is a plus. The ideal candidate already understands purchasing and shipping processes and can communicate effectively with vendors and internal teams in both English and Spanish.
