Purchasing Agent

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring the timely acquisition of materials and services essential for our operations. Knowledge of heavy truck parts would be helpful. Your expertise will help optimize inventory levels, streamline purchasing processes, and strengthen vendor relationships. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast growing business. Responsibilities Manage end-to-end procurement processes using Prophet 21. Source suppliers, evaluate vendor performance, and establish strong vendor relationships through effective communication and negotiation. Analyze inventory levels using spreadsheets and ERP data to forecast needs and prevent stock shortages or excesses. Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate delivery schedules, optimize supply chain flow, and ensure timely receipt of goods. Review contracts, pricing agreements, and purchase orders to ensure compliance with company policies and budget constraints. Conduct direct negotiations with vendors to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery conditions. Qualifications Proven experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of materials management, inventory control, logistics, and supply chain management principles. Skilled in vendor communication, negotiation strategies, and vendor relationship management. Strong knowledge of heavy truck parts. Ability to analyze pricing structures and utilize supply chain management tools like AS400 or similar systems effectively. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple procurement projects simultaneously.
