Purchaser & Inventory Control Specialist

BC Building Products ("The Envelope Specialist") is a family-owned distributor in Surrey, BC supplying waterproofing, air and vapour barriers, deck coatings, concrete repair, sealants, drainage board, insulation, cladding and geosynthetics to contractors and civil projects across BC. We're growing and need someone to keep our shelves right, our suppliers on time and our numbers accurate. What you'll do: Negotiate discounts and the best pricing with manufacturers and suppliers. Coordinate purchasing so orders are consolidated and shipped using the best freight practices. Place and follow up purchase orders with suppliers in NetSuite, and confirm pricing, lead times and freight. Plan stock levels from sales orders, estimates and seasonal demand, so we have what customers need without carrying too much. Manage special orders and direct shipments from quote to delivery, and keep sales informed of delays. Receive product, match it to POs and packing slips, and flag shortages or damage. Run cycle counts and reconcile inventory in NetSuite, and investigate variances. Verify costs on POs and supplier invoices, and keep item costs and pricing accurate. Keep supplier records, price lists and lead-time information current. Work with sales, the warehouse and accounting every day. What you bring: 4+ years in purchasing, inventory control or warehouse administration, ideally in building materials or distribution. Strong negotiation skills and experience with supplier pricing, freight and logistics. NetSuite or a similar ERP system, and strong Excel skills. A careful, organized approach to numbers, with the habit of double-checking costs before they go through. Clear communication with suppliers and internal teams, and the confidence to chase late orders. Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment. Nice to have: knowledge of construction products such as membranes, coatings, rebar or cladding; experience with imports, freight and customs paperwork; forklift ticket or warehouse experience. What we offer: a family-owned team that values reliability and honest work; pay of $60,000 to $80,000 per year, more depending on experience; hours Monday to Friday 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
