Overview Santec Canada is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join our team. The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, components, and supplies required for manufacturing. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and terms, and places orders based on production demand, inventory levels, and low-stock alerts to ensure material availability while controlling costs. Negotiate pricing, discounts, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers. Create and issue purchase orders based on demand, inventory levels, and low-stock alerts. Monitor order confirmations, lead times, and deliveries to ensure materials arrive as scheduled. Track inventory levels and replenish stock while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory. Monitor supplier performance, including cost, quality, reliability, and delivery. Identify alternative suppliers and components to reduce costs and mitigate supply risks. Resolve purchasing issues, including delays, shortages, pricing discrepancies, and incorrect shipments. Coordinate with Manufacturing, Inventory, and other departments to confirm material requirements and prioritize urgent orders. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and order documentation in the ERP system. Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve purchasing processes. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Position Requirements 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience negotiating supplier pricing, discounts, and commercial terms. Strong sourcing, supplier relationship management, and inventory control skills. Understanding of manufacturing components, purchasing processes, and supply chain operations. Experience using an ERP system for purchasing and inventory systems; NetSuite is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and proactively address supply issues. Detail-oriented, accountable, and committed to continuous improvement.
