Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Purchaser to join our NAPA automotive parts store. The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing and purchasing automotive parts, supplies, and related products while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and ensuring competitive pricing and availability. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of automotive parts and products, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal staff. Areas of Responsibility: Purchase automotive parts, supplies, equipment, and related products based on customer demand, inventory requirements, and sales activity. Monitor inventory levels and identify purchasing needs to maintain appropriate stock levels. Review sales history, inventory reports, special orders, and backorders to determine purchasing requirements. Source products from approved suppliers and obtain competitive pricing and availability. Compare supplier pricing, delivery times, warranties, and product quality. Negotiate pricing, terms, freight costs, and other purchasing conditions when appropriate. Maintain strong working relationships with NAPA suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers. Place and follow up on purchase orders to ensure accurate and timely deliveries. Verify incoming orders for quantity, accuracy, pricing, and condition. Resolve discrepancies, shortages, damaged goods, and incorrect shipments with suppliers. Track special orders and backordered items and communicate updates to the appropriate staff. Work closely with the Parts Counter and Sales teams to ensure customer needs are met. Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining product quality and availability. Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and assist with inventory management initiatives. Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation. Stay current with automotive products, suppliers, market trends, and new vehicle technologies. Follow company purchasing policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications and Requirements: 3+ years in Purchasing with previous purchasing experience in automotive parts, or automotive industry experience preferred. Strong knowledge of automotive parts and applications. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and negotiation skills.
